School’s Out For Summer!

When I left my corporate job 9 years ago I did so because of these two little people. We moved to Colorado and Jackson, soon followed by Holden, became my whole world. Then somewhere along the way this whole photography thing took off and my world got split. Like most moms I work diligently to balance my two worlds and sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is not so easy. Sometimes I miss important times in their lives and sometimes I need to turn down a client. And all of that is ok because life is like that – balance, teeter, balance, teeter…crash!  Well maybe not crash, but sometimes it sure feels like it’s about to, huh?!

Why am I sharing this? Well summer is officially here. And that means these two are off of school and we are planning trips to the pool, summer camps, hiking, outings with friends, trips to visit family, and long afternoons spent reading in the shade of the porch. And that also means I won’t be quite as available for photo sessions. I’m still taking bookings, sure, but far less than usual. I hope you understand. I hope you are getting to do some of these same fun things with YOUR kiddos as well. I’ll be focusing more on my currently scheduled newborn arrivals, and the family and milestone sessions that are on the books (plus two awesome summer weddings I get to capture!). I’ll be doing less weekdays and more week-evenings. And my weekends will be more limited as well. It’s very possible that if you have a studio session scheduled with me, you may hear my boys upstairs hanging out, watching a movie or playing video games. In prior summers I found childcare for them while I have clients but I know now that they are older that it won’t be a big deal if they are around while I’m working. They are really good at only interrupting during an emergency, and pretty much just chilling out while mom does her thing.  They may also be up for doing a puzzle or reading a story with the older siblings of some of my newborn clients as well 🙂

I hope I get to see you sometime this summer, and if not this summer then hopefully sometime this fall! Keep in mind my fall starts to fill up starting in August of it doesn’t hurt to get your date on the calendar early to insure you get a spot.  Ick, it’s too early to talk about fall, let’s go back to swimming pools and reading in the shade of the porch…
