Today is my sweet Mama’s birthday. I am who I am because of her. She raised three daughters (can you imagine 3 teenage daughters in one house at the same time??), instilling compassion, patience, love for all people, independence, and creativity in all of us. She is an educator, having taught elementary school for more years than I can calculate. She is also a visiting angel, helping her elderly clients with their every day care but more so providing them with an open ear. She cared for my ill Granny for over 20 years. She remembers birthdays and anniversaries. When our boys both went through early childhood breathing issues (LOTS of croup and a horrible bout of RSV) she would drop everything and drive the 9 hours from Texas to help us care for them. She is the most selfless person I know, and my biggest cheerleader. Life gets so busy and sometimes I don’t have the time to thank her properly, or even to be that ear that she has always provided. But know how much I love you and how thankful I am that you are the one I get to call MOM. Happy birthday Mama.
